Where we started
A 650 square foot, one bedroom apartment in Bellevue, Washington. B was an inhabitant there for four years, I for nearly three of those four. We existed among a barely manageable collection of clutter, items necessary for daily living, and a garden of potted plants that struggled to photosynthesize in the minimal daylight that only one wall of windows supplied. We outgrew this place the day I moved in, and we waited patiently for the bloated Seattle housing market to deflate to a place where we could dream of owning our own single-family house. Almost two years of planning and four months of visiting more than 6o homes finally paid off, and we are now the proud owners of our very own home.
Where we are now
A mid-seventies, 1600 square foot, tri-level home in the North Rose Hill neighborhood of Kirkland, Washington. Inhabited for the last 30 years by an elderly couple in their early eighties, the home represents a new chapter in our life together both as partners and co-investors. In addition, it presents a seemingly unending array of cosmetic renovation projects that will surely usurp the majority of our waking hours for many months to come.
